Festival season, midwest dates and more...
French Quarter Festival was a beautiful blur of top-notch music, masterful players, enthusiastic crowds and picture-perfect weather. Paul Sanchez and the gang killed it on the GE stage on Saturday. Debbie Davis and the Mesmerizers started Sunday off at full speed straight out of the gate on Royal Street. Aurora Nealand, who suffered a serious hearing injury earlier in the month, had a band of stalwarts who rallied a stellar set of music in her absence on Bourbon Street.
Jazz Fest is right around the corner and lots of great music is always in the mix. Look for Debbie with Paul Sanchez on the Gentilly Stage and as a special guest with the Pfister Sisters in honor of the group's 40 year anniversary performance at Economy Hall. Club dates and special concerts abound, so check the calendar page for all the info.
The month of May will find Debbie and Josh playing some dates in the Chicago-land area as well as a series of house concerts in Minneapolis. Some of these events are private but not necessarily closed. If you're interested, reach out through the contact page and we'll see what we can do!
"Debbie Davis is generally recognized as possessing one of the most beautiful voices in a city filled with talented singers. Her warm, full voice illuminates the nooks and crannies of these songs with an emotional resonance that reminds listeners of such mistresses of restrained passion as Astrud Gilberto and Betty Carter. She’s also capable of letting that big voice carry her into mainstream pop territory, where her saucy delivery is more reminiscent of numerous big band vocalists and the great Cass Elliot. Every gesture is priceless."
