Brunch with Debbie Davis & Josh Paxton
— —
Marginy Brasserie, 640 Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, Louisiana
It's festival season and new gigs are popping up like so many seedlings.
Come see Debbie every Thursday and Friday through the end of June (at least) in the Puccini Bar at the Four Points Sheraton in The French Quarter. Located on the corner of Bourbon St and Toulouse St in the very heart of the French Quarter, this was the location of North America's very first opera house. The legacy of live music continues today with Debbie and Josh Paxton on their beautiful baby grand. Come for a drink with friends after work or before a night on the town. No cover, no reservations and they'll even validate your valet parking!
Brunch is back at the Marigny Brasserie on Sundays! Day drinking, eggs and music from 11-2 at the corner of Frenchmen and Royal. Debbie and Josh will enable your day drinking by whatever means necessary ... because brunch without booze is just a very sad breakfast.

"Debbie Davis is generally recognized as possessing one of the most beautiful voices in a city filled with talented singers. Her warm, full voice illuminates the nooks and crannies of these songs with an emotional resonance that reminds listeners of such mistresses of restrained passion as Astrud Gilberto and Betty Carter. She’s also capable of letting that big voice carry her into mainstream pop territory, where her saucy delivery is more reminiscent of numerous big band vocalists and the great Cass Elliot. Every gesture is priceless."
John Swenson, Offbeat Magazine.

Jazz Fest is a busy time in New Orleans, even if you never make it to the fairgrounds. Too many gigs to list here but, suffice it to say, there's a lot of music to hear and only 11 days to do it in. A notable item on this list is a special secret show with Josh Paxton at the (looks right, looks left, moves closer) Silky Satin Lounge (aka Tom McDermott's house) on Monday May1. Tickets are very limited for this intimate performance local. A donation of $20 is suggested.
Last but hardly least, Debbie Davis and the Mesmerizers will be making our band debut at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival this year. We are honored to be the closing act on the Economy Hall Stage on Saturday, May 6 at 5:35.
